1st Period
NC History $5
Taught by Miranda Owens
Description:
Travel through time & discover the rich history of
North Carolina! Students will explore people,
places, and events that shaped the state. Through
hands on activities, storytelling, and interactive
projects, students will learn about famous figures,
state symbols, and important moment in history.
Board Games $10
Taught by Mary Elmore
Description:
This course will primarily focus on building new
friendships and strengthening existing ones
through game play. We will explore a variety of
games together, while learning the basics of game
theory and strategy. There will be brief
discussions about each game’s history. Good
sportsmanship and cooperation will be
emphasized. Participation is mandatory.
2nd Period
50 States $10
Taught by Maria Estes
Description:
This is a year-long course where we'll use stories,
maps, and activities to explore two states a week!
We will go roughly in order of statehood, so we
can talk about history and geography along the
way. This won't be just a list of state facts! Each
student will keep their work in a binder so they
have a portfolio of sorts at the end of the year.
Though this is a full-year course, students are
welcome to join us for a single semester, and
materials can be provided to cover the missed
states with a parent at another time.
Spring 2026 Classes
1st Period
Coding 2 $0
Taught By Kim Sharp
Description:
We will be starting where coding left off last year.
There will be a review to catch new people up. We
will be working in scratch & moving into python as
skills improve. This class will require reading &
typing. You must have a Laptop for this class.
2nd Period
Rocks & Minerals $5
Taught by Miranda Owens
Description:
Get ready to dig into the fascinating world of rocks
& minerals! Students will explore how rocks are
formed, ifentify different types of minerals, & learn
what makes gemstones sparkle. There will be fun
hands on activities and real rock samples.
Students will become junior geologist, uncovering
the secrets beneath our feet! This class is perfect
for curious minds who love to explore!
